People capable of abstract thought felt sick when 20 little elementary school children were gunned down in their school three years ago this December. Many of us demanded that our government do something to make sure a tragedy like Sandy Hook never happens again. What we got was nothing. Congress chose to do nothing to reduce the number of mass shootings, and in fact, Senator Ted Cruz is running for president as someone who stopped the parents of Sandy Hook victims from getting any satisfaction from Congress.

In the 3 years since the Sandy Hook massacre, there have been more than 1,000 mass shootings in the United States. The result of the 1,029 mass shootings cataloged by Vox has left 1,300 people dead and nearly 3,700 injured. That’s nearly one mass shooting every day.

A mass shooting is when four or more people are shot.
